Sunny Day Rainbow
Interactive Children's Museum Art

Sunny Day Rainbow utilizes the ubiquitous spherical glass beads that highway stripping and signs employ to reflect and light up when your car headlights shine upon them.  The beads also break up white light into the colors of the rainbow in the same way falling raindrops break up the sun's light into the spectrum creating a rainbow. The Sunny Day Rainbow shown is approximately 2" deep by 14" by 12" but could be most any size.  The encased glass beads fall through perforated screen creating "rain" and rainbow when the work is turned upside down.  If you put your ear up to Sunny Day Rainbow when the beads are falling, you will hear the sound of rain as well.  Sunny Day Rainbow can be used as an egg timer as well.
